BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Board of CNFWJ consists of individuals who embody the same vision and spirit as CNFWJ co-founders – Jack Burke, Jake Burke & Beth O’Brien – and are guided by CNFWJ’s values. In line with CNFWJ’s mission, the Board seeks to monitor and disburse funds so that the dollars go directly and solely to NF research, including, but not limited to, funding other NF-related entities to the extent such funds are directed specifically to research and its related components. The CNFWJ Board is comprised of non-compensated individuals who volunteer their time, money, and individual expertise to provide structure and guidance to advance CNFWJ’s goals.

  • BETH O'BRIEN

    CO-FOUNDER & CEO

    Attorney at Law, O’Brien Consulting, LLC

    Elizabeth O’Brien (“Beth”) is Co-Founder and CEO of CureNFwithJack. It is Beth’s passion and purpose to end NF, and she regularly speaks at various venues and conferences to promote awareness for and education about this devastating neurogenetic disorder.

    Beth is also an experienced litigator with a background in both civil and criminal matters, and currently advises clients concerning actual or potential litigation in Georgia and elsewhere in the United States. Prior to working with a small practice in the Atlanta area, Beth spent more than eight years as a litigator in Washington D.C. at Williams & Connolly LLP, one of the nation’s premier litigation firms. During her tenure there, Beth represented individuals and corporations in state and federal courts and in arbitration, and successfully defended matters on appeal.

    Before joining Williams & Connolly, Beth served as law clerk to the Honorable Orinda Evans, United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Beth is a member of the Supreme Court of the United States, numerous other federal and state courts, and a member of the Georgia and D.C. bars. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan and University of Michigan School of Law, and she is currently working towards an executive certification in nonprofit leadership at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

    Beth is an active member of her Atlanta area community, where she resides with her husband, Jake, three children, and one adorable dog.

  • JAKE BURKE

    CO-FOUNDER & HONORARY BOARD MEMBER

    Regional Vice President, Sales, iCIMS

    Jake Burke is Co-Founder of CureNFwithJack. Soon after Jack was diagnosed with NF, he knew that we MUST take action to raise dollars for a cure and awareness for the disorder.

    Jake is an experienced sales leader and professional with 25 years of experience selling SaaS products and leading teams of account executives helping various businesses function efficiently, maximize profit and ensure employees have great experiences.

    He has had the opportunity to work within the higher education space helping colleges and universities provide better services to their students.

    Prior to his sales career, Jake worked in higher education in residence life, undergraduate admissions and career services where he created and executed programs and services that leveraged technology to help students succeed.

    Jake is a member of several associations, an experienced speaker and frequent guest on podcasts. He has been recognized several times for his work through many sales awards and team recognition.

    Jake lives in the Atlanta area with his wife, Beth and three amazing children. 

  • JACK BURKE

    CO-FOUNDER

    Honorary Board Member and Junior Board Member

    The inspiration and motivation behind CureNFwithJack is Jack Burke, our Co-Founder who lives with NF. As a result of NF, Jack has several complex tumors and a brainstem glioma, which have resulted in over a year of chemotherapy, two brain surgeries, eye surgery, two foot surgeries, scoliosis, chronic fatigue, low muscle tone, over 40 MRIs, countless doctor appointments, and other challenges.

    Nevertheless, he remains steadfast in his commitment to do his part to end NF.  

    As a result of his efforts, Jack has inspired and motivated countless people previously unaware of NF and raised millions of dollars for NF research.

    Jack has been a public speaker advocating for NF awareness since he was in kindergarten, was awarded the Children’s Tumor Foundation’s Humanitarian of the Year, and has been featured in numerous media outlets, including Global Heroes magazine, in which he was recognized for his work in forging a pathway for a cure. He has presented at events, nonprofit conferences and corporate engagements, including ADP for an audience of approximately twelve hundred individuals, where he talked about his experience with NF, overcoming challenges, and the importance of inclusion and neurodiversity. 

    Jack is currently attending Kennesaw State University.

  • NANI PARKER

    CHAIR

    Senior Manager, Inclusion & Belonging Operations, McKesson Corporation

    Nani has enjoyed a progressive and challenging career working with executive and C-Level management for large corporations including McKesson, ADP, and United Parcel Service (UPS).

    She excels in executing all stages of project coordination - from internal communication campaigns to executive summit planning and takes pride in every detail being covered. She is also proficient in graphic design, as a former undergraduate student of SCAD.

    At McKesson, the explosive growth of the Executive Talent function was an invaluable introduction to the healthcare industry. Through strategic partnerships and cutting-edge technology, Nani’s team redefined “white glove” experiences for Executive Recruitment.

    Now in the Inclusion + Belonging space, she pulls from her extensive project management experience to build external market presence, measure impact through dynamic data and analytics, and drive change to enhance the inclusiveness of McKesson’s internal work environment.

    Aside from her career, Nani is a passionate advocate for raising awareness about neurofibromatosis (NF) and proudly serves as the Board Chair of CureNFwithJack.

  • MARILEE HAMILTON

    SECRETARY

    Marilee has over 20 years of experience in corporate marketing, spending the majority of her career with Verizon Wireless in various roles that focused on marketing communications, project management and event and sports sponsorship negotiation and activation.

    She recently started a marketing consulting company.

    Marilee brings her experience, talent, and passion for giving back to the Board of CureNFwithJack as a founding member in an effort to increase awareness and achieve the mission of finding an effective treatment and ultimately a cure for neurofibromatosis.

    She has been inspired by the Burke family - and especially Jack - for years through witnessing their unwavering drive and commitment to helping those with NF.

    Marilee is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and lives in Milton, Georgia with her husband Steve, two children and two dogs.

    Wealth Manager, UBS Financial

    Dan has 25 years experience in the finance industry. In his current role, he assists clients in managing their financial assets and planning for their futures with tailored investment strategies.

    Outside of his professional career, Dan is passionate about giving back to the community. He has served on the board of CureNFwithJack for eight years, where he has played a pivotal role in organizing and hosting an annual fundraiser in Florida, an event that has successfully run for 11 years.

    In his personal life, Dan enjoys spending time at the beach and cherishes moments with his family, especially with his 3-year-old daughter.

    Dan’s dedication to both his professional and philanthropic efforts highlight his commitment to making a positive impact on both clients and the community.

    Regional Manager, SP Plus Corporation

    Trish has been in the parking and transportation mobility industry for 30 years. As Regional Manager for the New England region of SP+, Trish is responsible for the operations and financial growth of 50 locations throughout the greater Boston area with the oversight of 400 employees. Prior to her Regional role Trish oversaw the operations of a portfolio of locations in the Boston and Cambridge markets. 

    Trish has also held the title of Manager of Client Reporting with responsibilities for the full accounting cycle including audit, A/R, A/P, G/L, financial statement preparation as well as the supervision and development of the audit staff.

    Trish’s greatest strengths have been leadership, analytics and team building to go along with her strong client relationships. Trish brings her knowledge, energy and expertise to the CNFWJ board to advance the mission of CNFWJ.

  • KEVIN SWINDON

    BOARD MEMBER

    Corporate VP of Global Security, Charles River Labs

    Kevin retired after over 20 years as a Special Agent with the FBI and is currently the Corporate Vice President of Global Security for Charles River Labs. Charles River provides essential products and services to assist pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, government agencies and leading academic institutions around the globe accelerate their research and drug development efforts and has over 21,000 employees with over 150 facilities worldwide. We supported the development of 80% of the novel FDA approved drugs in over the last five years.

    Kevin obtained his BS in Industrial Management from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, an MBA from Northeastern University, and a MS in Finance from Carroll School of Management at Boston College. In addition, Kevin currently holds an Adjunct Faculty position at Boston College and has worked the last 32 seasons for the New England Patriots as a Day of Game staff member. He lives in the Boston area with his family and continues to be inspired by Jack.

    Trust Solutions Partner, PwC

    Jon joined PwC in November 2000 after gaining experience in corporate accounting and has spent the majority of his 26-year career with PwC serving multinational and domestic SEC registrants delivering assurance and business advisory services.  His primary focus has been serving clients within the Consumer and Industrial Products sector.  He also has significant experience serving clients within the industrial manufacturing, metals, chemicals, retail & consumer, and distribution sub-sectors.

    Jon is a certified public accountant with the Georgia State Board of Accountancy and the Maryland State Board of Accountancy.  He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants.

    Jon resides in Milton, Georgia with his wife, Kelly, their two daughters Kayla and Mackenzie, and their dogs Lance and Bear.  Outside of work, Jon enjoys playing golf, watching sports, and spending time with family and friends.
